Bio
Bala Dada has been involved with Fantsuam Foundation as a volunteer since 2001, working with her National Volunteering program and the health clinic to deliver home based care services, running the Children Computer Club and assisting in setting up the Community Wireless Network. In 2007 he was given the responsibility of Planning, resource development, fiscal management, monitoring and evaluation, and program development of the ZittNet project.
As a program manager, he has been responsible for the development of a sustainable rural wireless network, been part of an organizational development team and in charge of the monitoring and evaluation team of the organization. During this period, some of his work included:
• Planning project work plans
• Developing and implementing resource mobilization strategies
• Developing and managing project budgets
• Designing operating policies and procedures
• Developing and implementing M&E plans to measure program impact, quality and progress
• Developing and conducting assessment of Individual Performance Plans for my team members.
His job requires considerable technical skills and knowledge in:
• Setting up long distance wireless networks
• Radio frequency engineering
• AC, DC and solar electrical system installation and maintenance
• VOIP telephony,
• Satellite connectivity
• Windows and Linux systems administration, desktop and server
• LAN networking, including implementation of gateways, firewalls, Network Address Translation, and web proxies
• Administering network systems including web servers, routers, firewalls, proxy servers and mail servers.
Bala is a trained facilitator in participatory approaches and has a lot of experience planning and facilitating workshops and trainings. He has been a panellist at the 2011 Internet Governance Forum, United Nations Office in Nairobi. Panel - Internet Rights are Human Rights – Development, Empowerment and Access to the Internet. Panel - Human rights: a unifying approach for development, freedom, access and diversity. He was also a finalist at the Acumen Fund Global fellowship programme 2011.
