Pavel P Antonov, PhD, is the Executive Editor of BlueLink.net - Bulgaria, independent researcher of new media, journalism, social and environmental change, and affiliate member of OpenSpace Reserch Centre, UK. Antonov’s current research seeks to understand how neoliberal norms arrive into the post-socialist newsrooms; and how journalists engage with them in their private and professional lives. Named among Bulgaria's ten top civil society promoters for 2010 by Capital weekly for his role at the Smokefree Bulgaria civil initiative,
Antonov is a co-founder and Member of the Board of BlueLink.net – the Bulgarian civil society electronic information network and member of the Association for Progressive Communications (APC). As BlueLink's Council Representative Antonov contributed to APC's Information Technology for Environmental Sustainability initiative.
Antonov worked as a journalist and managed media and communications projects since 1994. He is the author of articles, documentaries and analyses on the state of environment and civil society in Central and Eastern Europe, and a frequent trainer to environmental journalists, civil society and state officials. During 2001 - 2008 Antonov was the editor of Green Horizon, the magazine of the Regional Environmental Center for CEE. He is the former Editor in Chief of Current Affairs Programmes at Nova - the first Bulgarian private TV channel, where he started his journalistic career as a news reporter and host of Sofia's Fairytales - a creative programme on diversity and tolerance. Antonov has graduated with an MA from the Journalism Faculty of the Sofia University, and obtained an MSc in environmental sciences and policy from the Central European University in Budapest.
