Michael Kwet

Michael Kwet received his PhD in Sociology from Rhodes University and is a Visiting Fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. He is the author of “Digital colonialism: US empire and the new imperialism in the Global South” at Race & Class and editor of the forthcoming volume, The Cambridge Handbook of Race and Surveillance due out in 2021 on Cambridge University Press. Dr Kwet has been published at numerous outlets, including The New York Times, Al Jazeera, The Intercept, VICE News, Wired, Counterpunch, and ROAR Magazine, and he works on activist campaigns to resist digital colonialism in South Africa.
