Emmanuel Vitus Agbenonwossi is a Digital Policy Researcher with 10+ years of experience advocating on a wide range of policy, legislative, regulatory and legal challenges. Currently based in France, he works to advance professional journalism and digital freedom with media and the Internet rights defenders globally.
Through research, advocacy and policy analysis, Emmanuel educates citizens to challenge power and encourage Internet governance debate across Africa.

Emmanuel has previously worked as Communications Lead for Nigeria-based Paradigm Initiative and Google policy Fellow for Francophone Africa. He has also worked as Managing Editor for Amsterdam-based Media and Digital solutions company, AfricaWeb Holding before leading the organization’s Foundation where he is currently the Executive Director.

Through advocacy, stakeholder engagement, research and capacity building programs, Emmanuel works to promote greater transparency and integrity in all areas of online journalism, regulations and practices that respect users and create trusted online environments and experiences.

Emmanuel supports multi-stakeholder Internet governance processes Africa by providing technical support to the Africa Internet governance (AfIGF), as well as a number of National and Regional Initiatives (NRIs), and Schools of Internet Governance (SIGs) as a faculty member. Emmanuel is a graduate of the Central University of Lancashire (London) and the Central University of Tunis (Tunisia).
